Her birth name was Eleanora Fagan
She is considered one of the best jazz singers of all time

In 1956, she was arrested for drug charges and was banned from singing at clubs that served alcohol

She was “discovered” by producer John Hammond
She died on July 18th, 1959

In 2000, she was introduced to the rock and roll hall of fame
